only my second time to komali, but i returned primarily to inhale the appetizer of mexican street corn, mixed with lime and chile powder and bound by spicy mayo. it’s like the bad ass brother of a summertime sample of corn on the cob.

the restaurant itself is interesting, because it’s mainstream on some levels, yet also somewhat quirky. in a city teeming with tex-mex of all shapes & sizes, komali finds its voice through its (primarily) more health-conscious menu. naturally, i fall in love with the dishes held together by mayonnaise, but what can i say?

on the patio, diners can watch bulky guys entering and exiting a somewhat mysterious fighting club, which i find very exciting. inside, the decor is stark and clean yet also inviting. like sitting indian style in your socks in your best friend’s all-white living room

seriously, though, if you’re craving creamed corn with a kick, find yourself a date and head to komali, it can serve as your main course, promise.
