i’m wearing rag & bone cutoffs, rag & bone cotton tank, cleaver necklace at we are 1976 (henderson st, dallas), faux lizard booties at zara

she’s wearing black maxi, lucky brand wedges, giant tote bag by louis vuitton (another contribution to the L’s of dallas, along with gender-bending favourite lululemon… more on these phenomena later)

the rooftop bar proved itself a viable and valuable alternative for those, like myself, who prefer standing room and are jilted by a number of uptown bars, packed to the brim, watering hole-like spots. supposedly, as a cherry on top of the outrageously mouthwatering views of the dallas skyline, HG Sply will soon be playing host to a friendly alternative to the bourgeoise brunch spots that have dominated the dallas social market to date. long tables and lounge-y cabana-like rooms will reportedly be lined with fresh fruit juices for a make-your-own-mimosa bar, and it’s a prime area to meet, greet, mingle, and branch out of one’s comfort zone. we met a number of outlandish people, and can’t wait to go back and expand our little black books, and our tastebuds

i’m wearing rag & bone leather-trimmed blazer, zara shift dress (in-stores for $69.99) and nude jimmy choo pointed pumps. carrying american apparel leather tote (close silhouette to celine cabas tote for only $99)

first male feature on DLT, but who can deny how man-chic this boy is?! forever making limoncello relevant, and the fit is incomparable. i can’t get over guys who know the value of tailoring, and i immediately want to snuggle up to them and ask who does their hemlines…

pho itself is a go-to for the downtown lunch crowd, and i often want an iv of the thai tea in my veins to get me through an afternoon. the bun is a favourite, with its light-yet-filling rice noodles beneath a monster vietnamese salad. today i found myself ordering the fried rice, which i typically opt into at restaurants which are solely rooted in thai cuisine, but when i got to the front of the uber-line of power-lunching bankers, i found myself ordering without thinking. guess my stomach overpowered my brain, and thank goodness. the fried rice rivaled that from Mint (on Oak Lawn) and topped with the house-made sirracha paste, it was over-the-top good… and i think my metabolism is still kicking it

Dallas Looks Twice: Away Day (Pawleys Island, SC)

10434 Ocean Highway
Pawleys Island, South Carolina

i’m wearing helmut by helmut lang dress, zara heels (still online and in-store for less than $45. i got them in 3 colors and the roi paid them back in full in less than 2 weeks. run)

frank’s is essentially THE place to come at pawleys/litchfield/debordieu, and it’s packed out every single night in the summer (so is its offspring, the more casual and arguably more fun and often more tasty, frank’s outback)

pawleys island is the nantucket of the south. its residents and semi-residents deem it “arrogantly shabby”, a phrase that truly does its charm complete justice. although the homes are in the multimillions, they are likely to have bare wooden floors from the early 20th century (at the latest), dismal kitchens, and dreadful wicker furniture. needless to say, step out on the porch or rinse off in the outdoor shower and you’ll understand. i have woken up here every summer from a young age, and have always looked forward to curling up in my Pawleys Island Hammock (world-famous, and rightfully so) with a small traveling library and listening to the sea and frying myself to a crisp (age 24, some things never change, although i graduated from gossip girl to sheryl sandberg’s lean in, also a must-read)

as long as i’ve been running around in the most fashionable of one-pieces, i’ve also looked forward to our evenings at frank’s

she wears Current/Elliott top x Zara jeans x Elizabeth & James wedged heels x Jennifer Zeuner cross

overheard : “there’s Kombucha in our cocktails”

vibe: decidedly aptly blended. passion and staying power evidenced by potent excitement from both the patrons and the mixed bag of attractive employees. loving the aesthetic– mobster-style red leather banquettes scattered amidst stainless-steel stools to complement unfinished wooden-topped bar tables. very cool, relaxed-chic customers (think Santa Monica decides to dine indoors) and equally trendy bar and table staff

menu: locally-sourced — but easily pronounced and APPETIZING ingredients put together with thought and careful preparation. (hunky Will gave us a secret tour of the walk-in closet sized cooler — foodie heaven! and upon perusing the dates and locations, we concur, the food is truly farm-to-table)
